Kaitlin is an Education Architect with six years of experience in technical education and writing. Her passion for helping others through training was realized when she created her first technical onboarding program for Puppet. It was a revelation that a well-organized learning path could significantly reduce the time it takes to learn a new product. After that, she completed an Instructional Design certification program to better understand industry best practices. Since then, she has worked for many different startups creating both instructor-led and online training content. In her free time, she enjoys adventuring in the beautiful pacific northwest with her dogs.

Technical writing the HashiCorp way

“The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one’s real and one’s declared aims, one turns instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms.”
– George Orwell.

Learn how to write clearly and avoid falling into that gap trap! In this talk, you’ll learn technical writing best practices that will enable you to become a better communicator. We will use HashiCorp’s style guides as a foundation for how to create audience-focused documentation and step-by-step tutorials.
